This year I am doing things a little differently than I usually do.  Normally, I do a separate post each day for updates, but this time, I am just going to run the one post and update it each day.  I have embarked on a new journey, having just begun college this week.  So I am truly and completely insane for thinking I can do this.  Hence, getting this post up a full 24 hours after the event has actually started!
I am also going to keep it kind of casual for the same reason.  I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself and feel overwhelmed with everything else I have going on.
What I Plan to Attempt to Accomplish This Time

Time Devoted to Reading

I will be reading a day/on the weekend/all week.

My Goals

  • Finish Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets reread

Dewey #readathon April 2016

CeBYLKFUUAAKRYO

What is Dewey’s 24-Hour Read-a-thon? For 24 hours, we read books, post to our blogs, Twitters, Tumblrs, Goodreads and MORE about our reading, and visit other readers’ homes online. We also participate in mini-challenges throughout the day. It happens twice a year, in April and in October.

It was created by the beloved Dewey (her blog is archived at the Wayback Machine). The first one was held in October 2007. Dewey died in late 2008. We’re still saddened by her absence, but the show must go on. The read-a-thon was renamed to honor its founder in 2009.

#Boutofbooks Challenge: Top Ten Recommendations

Today’s challenge for #Boutofbooks is hosted by the lovely blogger over at Trees of Reverie!  And this one is so much fun, but also a bit of a …  Mind bender because deciding what other people may want to read in a given set of circumstances can be an interesting proposition!  So the challenge instructions:

The Challenge: You’ve just started to work at a bookstore (or library) – what are your top ten go-to book recommendations?

Prompts:

  • You may select any TEN BOOKS of your choice. These books can be from a specific genre, or you may like to choose a few books from various genres.

Bookshelf Scavenger Hunt!!! #boutofbooks #BoBScavengerHunt

The blogger over at Caught Read Handed is hosting a challenge for Bout of Books …  A Scavenger hunt!

So we had this list of things we had to find…  First of which was a book with an author with the Same Initials as you have.  I lamented this for quite a while, thinking that there are no other authors with my initials..  And then I remembered…  I have my initials!!!

Bout of Books 12!!!!! It’s Almost Time!! #boutofbooks

Bout of Books
I know, I know, there has been a major blogging slump happening here.  I have a ton of reviews mostly drafted, and I just need to finish formatting them and get them scheduled up.  I also hit a reading slump and from mid November to Present day, I finished exactly 1 book.  This is a fact that brings me much sadness.  So I thought to myself, “Self, what better way to solve these slumps than to participate in Bout of Books yet again?  ” and so…  Here I am!!

Bout of Books 11 Updates

Bout of Books
Monday
Number of books I’ve read today: One
Total number of books I’ve read:  One
Books:  Immortals by Ednah Walters –
Page Count:  320
First Impressions:
I really enjoyed book one and overlooked editing in the first because it was an ARC, but the editing was bad in this one too, and this was a finished copy.  I hope the author gets the editing bit together because I really want to love this series.
Social:
I was able to attend about half of the Twitter party before I fell ill again and had to retreat to my bed.  I missed out on both challenges because I just was not feeling well but I got to chat with some cool people on Twitter for a few minutes and read pretty much a whole book while I convalesced.  Today will be a better day, For Sure!
Tuesday
Number of Books I’ve Read Today:  Two
Total Number of Books I’ve Read:  Two
Books:
  • Immortals by Ednah Walters (24)

TREESOFREVERIE JUNE READ-A-THON: QUESTIONNAIRE | PART 1

  • 01. Where will you be sharing your bookish updates for the Treesofreverie June Read-A-Thon?
  • 02. How did you start book blogging? What got you interested in starting, were there particular blogs that influenced or encouraged your decision? (If you don’t have a book blog, are you interested in starting one?)
    • It may sound weird, but the first trigger was getting a Nook tablet from a friend for Christmas that year.  It got me back to reading again and involved in online book communities, which led to the friendship that ultimately inspired my book blogging journey.

A Brief Update for the #treesofreveriereadathon

So, It’s technically speaking day 3 in this readathon so far, and thus far I have read 340 pages.  I am into my second book, and this book meets one of my reading prompts or reading challenges (without going back and looking, I don’t remember which category it was in) of being a book I was sent for an honest review.  I am currently reading The Stepsister’s Tale.  I am about 25% into the book and so far it is starting to get kind of interesting.  My first book of the readathon, which I had started just prior to the readathon and got to finish up, was The Body in the Woods by April Henry and became one of the few negative reviews that will be posted on my blog.  The review went up yesterday, June 17th.  I was not thrilled with the book, but you all can read my review and decide for yourselves.
