My Experience with The Broke and The Bookish Secret Santa Exchange

So, As a relatively new blogger, I was very excited to find that there was a Secret Santa exchange geared just for us book-obsessed folks. I found out about The Broke and the Bookish Secret Santa purely by accident, but I immediately signed up because this is the sort of thing I absolutely adore.

I had a lot of fun trying to decide what to get for my match, and I really hope that they enjoyed their surprise. I wish I could have done more, but For the person I was matched with, it seemed like the perfect gift!

Quick Plug for Black, White and Read Tours

Alright folks. Black, White and Read Tours currently has 14 hosts signed up. So, here is what the powers that be here has decided.

We are going to put all host registrations into the Random.org hat once we hit at least 20 registered hosts in the next week or so. Once we break the 20 host mark, after 7 days or so from the day the 20th host registers, I will give away one ebook from Barnes and Noble of the winner’s choosing, up to 5 dollars. If we break 35 hosts, I will give away a second one.

Book Blogger Appreciation Week: What Does Book Blogging Mean to Me?

Okay, so this is a tough one. First, you would have to know a little background.

I have been obsessed with books all of my life. I learned to read when I was three years old and it has been pretty much bedlam since then.

As I got older, I realized that not everyone shared my unhealthy obsession love affair with literature. By the time high school rolled around, none of my friends were readers. Enter into adulthood and things get a little wacky and time to read gets slowed down. But then, a couple of kids, divorce and a second marriage later, staring down the barrel of my 30s, books take center stage again.

Book Blogger Appreciation Week Interview Swap: JARR Interviews the Blogger from Bibliophile’s Retreat

So today, I get to interview Melissa from Bibliophile’s Retreat

I found it absolutely uncanny that we ended up paired together, because shortly before receiving the email matching us up, we were actually joking about what would it be like if we were paired and how funny that would be. Then, low and behold, there is the magic email! We had a good laugh and then set to work coming up with some good questions for each other and it really was a lot of fun.

Here we go. Check out the awesome exchange we had!

Book Blogger Appreciation Week Has Begun: Monday Topic: Blogs I Read

Book Blogger Appreciation Week has begun! How many of the rest of you are sitting there squealing about this like I am? I know, I know, I am a total book dork. My husband tells me all the time and I have accepted that this is my fate.

So, for today’s post related to BBAW, I am to discuss the blogs I try to read daily. I say try because, well, quite frankly, some days it just does not happen. I am in my Google Reader daily, but I also have some feeds in there for popular newspapers and magazines. Setting those aside, by the tone of my Google Reader subscriptions, there are far too many of them. At current count, I am about a week behind and there are over 1200 posts still to read.

Can I Really Pen the Next Great American Novel? We shall see.

I originally posted this on my personal blog, but felt that it had a place here also. See below. Originally posted by me at my personal blog

So, for those of you who know me, you know I have always been a writer. I may not have ever been a very good one, but I was always found with pen in hand at any given time, always carried a notebook around, and if I was not writing, my nose was in someone else’s book. It is just such a huge part of who I am that it never seemed strange or unusual. People would often ask me what was wrong if I didn’t have some form of the written word in my hand.

A Brief Note of Apology

I wanted to sit down and very quickly write a brief note of apology to both my readers and those who have requested reviews. I allowed life to get in my way this summer, and I have now worked out a slightly better method for tracking review requests and blog tours, physically writing down what I am supposed to post when, et cetera, as this seems to work better for my addled brain.

Just an Update and an Apology

I wanted to take a moment to let those of you that I have reviews pending for, as well as my few and faithful readers, that I have not fallen off of the face of the earth. Things have been a little crazy for me what with job change issues and some crazy finance situations have directed my attention away from books for a little while, but I am slowly getting back into the swing of things here.

Tagged! Gotta Love These Social Experiments, After All!!

I was tagged by TriedTestedTrueMommy in this…rather interesting little game.  I have never done any of these, and I was informed lately by LitFuse that I did not have enough diversified content, so what the heck, I will play along.

‘Tag – you’re it!’ – The rules:

1.You must post these rules.

2.Answer the question the “tagger” listed for you in their post.

3.And create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.

4.Choose 11 people to tag and link to them in the post.

5.Let each blogger know that you have tagged them.
