If your life had a soundtrack, what song would it start with? What song captures your first kiss, the day realized your parents were only human, or the day someone close to you almost lost their life?
For my latest book, The Red Road, I spent a lot of time picking the songs for its playlist. I knew the story would go to some dark places that, in real life, I’d never want to think about. I figured that if I listened to a song that captured the feeling I wanted, I’d have an easier time writing those emotional scenes. As I wrote, my playlist grew to 64 songs. I have the pleasure of hosting on a blog tour for this exciting YA author. In case you don’t know who Barbara Pietron is:
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved books. Many of my most vivid memories are book-related; like the thrill of my first library card, being blown away by Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot when I was thirteen, riding my bike to the library until I finally got a car, and the agony of waiting for semester break in college to read a novel (because if I started a book, my homework suffered!). I also like listening to alternative rock, sewing, gardening, and camping. I’m a mom, a cancer survivor, and a former automotive corporate employee, now working in a library.
