Received my first book from a publisher!

I just got this today and I am so excited. It sounds like an absolutely amazing story and I cannot wait to read it. The Book is due to release on April 23, 2013, so look for my review around that time.

If you click on the cover above, you can pre-order the book through Amazon, if you are interested, of course. The link is an affiliate link, so I will get a few pennies if you use it. Otherwise, you can just search amazon for Fly Away by Kristin Hannah

Blogging contacts updated

So, yesterday I posted about having made a contact with St. Martin’s Press. Well, Today I have heard back from both Tor and Scholastic, with both being a positive response! I am completely excited about this.

One of the reasons I contacted Scholastic is that my 9 year old is also a budding bibliophile and wanted to include him in the festivities around here. Scholastic puts out some great books for his age/reading level. He reads at a junior high-ish level and Scholastic has a plethora of excellent middle-grade novels.

Small Triumph as a Book Blogger

Well, I am kind of …impressed, maybe, right now. I have been drooling over some of the blogs I follow lately, how they seem to be getting all these awesome titles from the Big Guys. So, after a year of drooling and being jealous and whatever other emotions you want to add to that list, I sat down and tried to see what I could do with this.

A to Z Blog Challenge

So, I have been a bit remiss in posting content lately, so here is the thing. I needed motivation. I needed something to get me back into the groove of blogging again fairly regularly. So, I decided I should sign up for a blog hop/challenge. So, starting April 1 with the letter A, the goal is to post every day, excepting Sundays, of course, about a letter of the alphabet. What that means is, for each letter of the alphabet, I have to post something about books, because that is of course the category my blog falls under. Do I think I can do it? I surely hope so. I need to get back into a rhythm of posting on a more regular basis and I am hoping this will do the trick for me. I have been remiss of late and it is time to correct that.

How many people subscribe via Google Reader?

I recently learned that Google Reader’s service will be going away effective 1 July 2013. I am curious as to how many of my readers use that service and what many of you will be converting to. I have the subscribe by email option available on my blog, but for many, that can be daunting if you follow a lot of blogs. What other feed readers are out there? What are you hearing the most buzz about and what are you considering converting to?
