The Three Lost Kids and the Death of The Sugar Fairy by Kimberly Kinrade Guest Post

Here is a wonderful post from Kimberly Kinrade:

Do you see the magic in the everyday moments?

As a fantasy writer, I create magic all the time. My characters dive into darkness, challenging monsters, overcoming fears, and mastering their powers.

But what about in real life? How does a writer of magic find the magic in something so benign as doing dishes? Escapism and the willing suspension of disbelief are wonderful tools to let us immerse ourselves in story. Staying in the present is the tool we need to immerse ourselves in our own magical lives.

Halloween is here and Lexie, Bella and Maddie couldn't be happier. But why does everything feel so different? Fewer houses are decorated and fewer kids are out trick-or-treating. Still, that's not going to stop the three girls from eating as much candy as they can before their parents can stop them, even if that means fighting each other for it.

Author Christopher J. Lynch on “A Writer’s Awakening”

Today, Just Another Rabid Reader is visited by Christopher Lynch, author of “One Eyed Jack”.

Below, Please find Mr. Lynch’s thoughts!~

I wrote for twenty years before I really discovered writing. By that, I mean that I was so focused on “making it” by getting a sale and being published, that I left my passion for what I was writing about on the shelf. It was a huge mistake that costs me two decades of work.

Up until now, life has been good for 13-year-old Luke. He’s good at sports, attractive, and he’s a big wheel at Heyworth Academy, his private school. He likes to tease, and poke fun at the other kids, but that’s just because he likes having fun. But things start to fall apart, six weeks into eighth grade, when Luke commits an act of ‘goofing around’ that ends up costing him his best friend and his beloved private school.

After the Cross by Mike Lynch and Brandon Barr

After the CrossAfter the Cross by Brandon Barr

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After the Cross has a little bit of everything for every reader. There is mystery, history, and a little bit of romance. There is suspense, danger, violence, and a journey of self discovery.

There was a bit of shifting POV and I know for some people that can get confusing, but in this book it was beautifully executed and well organized so as not to detract from the story at all.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. I loved the history behind it, which seemed very well researched and easily incorporated into the story.
